Ayo with his works at Art Basel, 2017

A graduate of Architecture from the University of Nottingham (2012), Ayo Filade (b.1990), known better as AyoDraws, was first encouraged to draw and paint by his artist father.

He is largely concerned with the contrasts in lighting and textures, as well as with expressions and human hands. Titling his art "Disparate Realism", Filade's preoccupation with hyper-realism and surrealism by representing his subjects in their raw and imperfect states manifests in his interrogation of the consequences of conflict (action and reaction), separation and break, and how we deal with their rising tensions individually and as a society and as humans.
